摘要：Thispresentation will introduce two high-impact projectsthat we recently completed for Illinois Department ofTransportation. We will share our experienceon how to apply research results to change current engineering practices in highwaydesign and traffic incident management. ?The two projects include two five-year studieson wrong-way driving crashes and countermeasures, and traffic incident management training programs in US.

Dr. Huaguo Zhou is an Associate Professor at theDepartment of Civil Engineering of Auburn University. He works in the area of transportation safety and highway design, and has published over 100 publications in various transportation research areas. He is an associate Editorof the Journal of Transportation ITE. He is a fellow ofthe Institute of Transportation Engineers, and amember of Access Management Committee and Automatic Transit SystemCommittee of Transportation Research Board. He received two high impact project awards andoutstanding research awards in recognitionof his outstanding researchachievements. ?Dr. Zhou received his Ph.D. from theUniversity of South Florida in 2001, his Ph.D. and bachelor’sdegrees from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China in 1998 and 1993,respectively. Prior to his current appointment at the AuburnUniversity, he worked as assistant and associate professorat Southern Illinois University between2008 and 2013. From 2003 and 2008, hewas a senior research associate at the Center forUrban Transportation Research at University of South Florida.
