講座內容:
First, we overview computational intelligence(CI) research in the 20th Century. Especially, we show combination models offuzzy systems, neural networks, and evolutionary computation became real-worldapplications.
? Secondly, we show human factors are important keys for CI research in the21st Century, so called Humanized CI. Interactive Evolutionary Computation(IEC) is one of powerful tool for this direction. IEC is an optimization methodfor target systems which performance is hard to be measured but can beevaluated by human.
? Thirdly, we show how IEC has been used in wide variety of applicationsareas. They include artistic applications, audio and image processing, roboticsand control, data mining, software, geo-science, edutainment, game, and manyothers.
?? Finally, we show new IEC research directionof analyzing human characteristics. As IEC optimizes target systems based onhuman psychological evaluation scale, we many know it by analyzing the targetsystem optimized based on the scale.

主講人簡介:
Prof. Takagi hadworked for the Central Research Laboratories of Matsushita Electric IndustrialCo., Ltd. from April, 1981 to March, 1995. During these 14 years, he hasresearched on software engineering, speech recognition, neural networks, fuzzysystems, and genetic algorithms.
He was a VisitingIndustrial Fellow of the University of California at Berkeley from October,1991 to September, 1993, hosted by Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh of Computer ScienceDivision. Besides his visiting research, he played an educational role throughresearch projects and technical meeting with students, and BISC special seminaron Soft Computing of Computer Science Division.
He has worked forKyushu Institute of Design since April, 1995 as an Associate Professor. Hebelonged to Department of Acoustic Design in 1995 - 1999 and Department of Artand Information Design in 1999 - 2003. Kyushu Institute of Design and KyushuUniversity merged into one on October 1, 2003, and his affiliation name changedto Faculty of Design, Kyushu University. Now, he is a Professor of KyushuUniversity.
Prof. Takagi isinterested in Computational Intelligence such as neural networks, fuzzysystems, evolutionary computations, and other so-called Soft Computingtechnologies, especially cooperation of these technologies. Currently, hisinterest focuses on Interactive Evolutionary Computation which aims thecooperation of human and evolutionary computation. He is also interested insignal processing and human-machine interface.
