With the recent development of container transportation, the imbalance of empty containers among ports has become more serious. I consider the problem of positioning empty containers. The goal of this study is to propose a plan for transporting empty containers between container ports to reduce the imbalance. I will also introduce the empty container game that has been developed for training and education. The hybrid genetic algorithm for the three-dimensional multiple container packing problem will also be introduced. Moreover, the economic feasibility of foldable containers is being investigated using mathematical models.

Ilkyeong Moon教授簡(jiǎn)介

Ilkyeong Moon is a Head and Professor of Industrial Engineering at Seoul National University in Korea. He is a director of? Brain Korea 21 Plus project in which Korean government supports 4 years and the total amount of fund is about US$4million. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University, Korea, and Ph.D. in Operations Research from Columbia University. He published over 90 papers in international journals. He currently serves as an Associate Editor forEuropean Journal of Industrial Engineering, Flexible Services and Manufacturing, and Asia Pacific Journal of Operational Research.He was a former Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the Korean Institute of Industrial Engineerswhich is a flagship journal of Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers.
