報告摘要:

??? This paper assesses the welfare effects of foreign direct investment for host country consumers in the Chinese passenger-vehicle market. We find that foreign-invested enterprises directly improved consumer welfare through expanding the choice set, especially in the high-end market, or avoiding the import tariff. Indirectly, foreign-branded cars produced in joint ventures also benefited indigenous brands produced in the auto groups by enhancing their perceived quality and reducing the marginal costs, thereby bringing about welfare gains for car buyers.

??? 肖俊極,男,經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)博士,現(xiàn)為香港中文大學(xué)副教授。此前任教于上海財經(jīng)大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院(2006-2010年),復(fù)旦大學(xué)管理學(xué)院(2010-2014年)。教育背景為:南開大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)學(xué)士(1998年),南開大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士(2001年),多倫多大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)博士(2006年)。研究領(lǐng)域為實證產(chǎn)業(yè)組織、應(yīng)用微觀經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、市場營銷。論文發(fā)表于Review of Economics and Statistics,Journal of Industrial Economics,International Journal of Industrial Organization, Applied Economics,Marketing Letters,F(xiàn)rontiers of Economics in China,經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)季刊,營銷科學(xué)學(xué)報,中國管理科學(xué),財貿(mào)經(jīng)濟(jì),南開經(jīng)濟(jì)研究,財經(jīng)研究,南方經(jīng)濟(jì)等。研究曾獲得國家自然科學(xué)基金、教育部留學(xué)歸國人員科研基金、浦江人才計劃、上海汽車工業(yè)協(xié)會基金等資助。
